In study conducted by Robert Weis and Brittany C. Cerankosky, psychological scientists from Denton University, it was discovered that the introduction of a video game console to a household can negatively affect early childhood academic achievement in boys. This experiment was conducted with boys between the ages of 6-9. (Weis and Cerankosky, 2010) Boys who received gaming systems immediately had lower reading and writing scores and greater teacher-reported academic problems at follow-up than the children that did not get gaming stations. This is one article of many on this subject that prove that video games are harmful to school performance.
